ABOUT
Kevin Christison is an American artist whose works of art have been acquired by numerous prestigious collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, and other notable public and private collections. Christison is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. He studied Art History at the University of Oregon, and received his BFA in Sculpture from the California College of the Arts in 1998
His work focuses on the human form, using subtractive methods to alter his carefully rendered wax studies before casting them. This creates fragmentary but expressive forms that capture the lines of the human body in dramatic states of contortion or active gesture. The sculptures’ heavily worked surfaces are scored, hewn, and patinated to heighten their sense of raw vitality.
He relocated to Bangkok, Thailand in 2002 after being awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to lecture and create an exhibition at Silpakorn University in Bangkok, the Kingdom’s most celebrated fine art institution.
Kevin currently divides his time between San Francisco and Bangkok.
